The scope's adjusting,
The sites in line.
The insurgent is walking,
And doing his time.
As your heartbeat fastens,
His is solemnly still.
He's just guarding his midnight post,
While you steady for the kill.
The time is readily coming,
The sites-man gives the go.
As you ease down the trigger,
You want to hasten the blow.
As the recoil kicks in,
You cringe to the site,
That the badge of the man you killed,
Was red blue and white...
