The Prayer

Grief

Oh lord above me
how you must feel
from those that are sad
to those at your heels
I wished for riches
and for fame
now I'm just
so ashamed
I still think
of that day
when you took
my Mother away
A life you took
on that cold day
without warning
ending her pain
Yes she drank
her life away
wish I could say
she was not to blame
I am sorry
I looked away
I had to find
my own way
Though I was young
I carried the pain
now I see
I can live again

Soulful write, touched with pain and tenderness.
