A Late Night Obsession

Contributed by yackerz85 on Wednesday, 18th July 2007 @ 02:41:47 AM in AEST
Topic: obsession

Foggy forest, my mind’s full of smoke
Deceived and smothered by reality’s choke
Neither white nor black, my thoughts are gray
The line between fantasy and reality grows thinner each day.

My mind is sick, tainted it seems
And the problem lies buried within my dreams
When dreams are reality and all sense is gone
When thoughts are tangible and can be drawn
Where desire equals fulfillment and success guaranteed
Where happiness is just a smile, and disappointment a misdeed

It seems that I’m breaking down, slowly going insane
“Pitter patter” in my ears is the rain in my brain.
My only rational thought is that my thoughts are not
It is the last warning before my brain begins to rot.

I’m afraid that in my thoughts of you reality is scarce.
You and I are just actors in some predictable movie.
The plot is just my fantasies, reality’s impractical brother
Our relationship is just skin deep,
when I act like I know you completely.

And our kiss is just my lips sucking air
As I lay on my bed awake,
Thinking about you all the time
Until my mind becomes so obsessed
That I can’t tell what’s real and fake anymore.

well holy heck!! First off, I love your authors note and I whole-heartedly concur!
wow. late night musings do have such power! And I think I know these musings well.
OMG .. I'm so sorry to deline you, (as I hate to take away any of the magnificence
displayed in your thougths), but .. this line .. holy hell, I am SOOOOO in love with it ..

"The plot is just my fantasies, reality’s impractical brother"

Now THAT , my friend is just damn fine writing. So potent! So poetic!
I love the whole of this piece. It has sass to it, but in a very vulnerable
sorta way. Damn. I really mean this when I say, I wish I'd written this.

Exceptional piece! Truly.
