I Want It All

Contributed by Franciswolf on Monday, 16th July 2007 @ 03:56:22 AM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

Everybody's telling me
Choose a right path, watch the grain
You better keep a cool head
While you're tripping under pavement
You know it's slipping under you

And I wonder, should I walk fast?
Should I talk slow?
Or just stay in one position to keep on keeping control?

Wanting me to sit down
Fit round
Like a square piece in a circular hole

And now, everybody's picking their position
well I've never figured out how to stay in one rotation
when the world's just waiting

With open ears and open mind
reality seems far behind
I fall in deep, it's gonna be a deep fall

I want it all
every talent, every grace speed
i want it all
every vision, every need

I want love and attention
more than one dimension
a purpose that keeps purpose and more then just intention
I want it all

Oh no, what I'm asking for it's
just not in the cards
it's impossible

you know, there's no give and taking
it's just something over nothing and a promise to keep faking
something told to you when you're young and harmless

you can't be on top of the world
you aren't born to lead
and do you think will listen to that hunger you gotta feed?

Who will get it in the end?
But what do I have to loose when there's no one out to win?
I'm thinking, it's just not possible

for me to live so big of heart and not be walking tall

I want it all
every emotion, all of the commotion
I want it all
Can I get some people to relate and keep me real
multiple goals to seek so I can always speak?
I want it all
Say, I want it all
You know you want it all

I like this poem. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World" I tried to find the quote I'm thinking of on the internet, but was not successful in my search. My point is that I like the message here. Life shouldn't just be about "the good things" because without the bad things, we wouldn't be able to appreciate the good things. I like the attitude that accepts ALL of what life gives. It takes courage to really do it.

Be True,
Zenmind

I really love your poetry, it has a wonderful freshness to it and this piece is no exception.
To 'want it all' and be accepting of that is very brave. For a lot of people just taking the good things and sweeping the bad away helps them to get up each day. But to be able to say that you want the bad as well, whether it be because you know you can grow from it or because it gives balance to the good, shows an incredible inner strength.
An inspirational read indeed,

Take care,
Dom
