High
up in a hidden loft
above a city street,
the artist paint's a portrait
of the love she hope's to
meet.
A friend to fill her empty life
with love forever more,
she paint's a portrait
of an angel standing at her
door.
Upon his face
she pain't a smile so beautiful to see,
and then she stop's
and stare's awhile if only it could
be.
Of course
it's just a portrait
this she know's to well,
amidst her lonely loft she paint's
and drink's her self
to
hell.
The artist
paint's a vivid dream
soon to go to
sleep,
yet in her heart she's wide awake
her soul can hear her
weep.
Alone she'll rise to face the dawn
there'll be no sun
today,
the one she love'd
has come and gone the rain is here
to
stay.
Oh lavinia chandler
what ever shall you do?,
the curse your mother once endured
has now befallen
you.
Darcy's love
was like no other so beautiful she was,
i should know i love'd her so the way a young man
does.
Somewhere all alone in time
darcy she now walk's,
forever more to pen her rhymes and to herself she
talk's.
Oh listen sweet lavinia
can you hear her
now?,
she want's to tell you something
she hope's you'll hear
some
how.
Lavinia
if your listening mother says to
you,
i hope you can forgive this man
for once i love'd him
true.
Yet like the wind he to was wild
and still i love'd him so,
my sweet lavinia your his child
i thought you ought to
know.
Lavinia tried to understand
holding back her
tears,
the
greatest artist in the world couldn't paint
her stolen
years.
What could she do now that she knew
lavinia paint's no
more,
so
much for drinks and dreams come true
and angels at the
door.
Ben

Thank you for more on this intriguing tale. You know its held my interest lol!
So much sadness in this, and I was surprised at how the ending turned out.
But still it was a very good write with that wonderful rhythm and poignant imagery.
Take care,
Dom |
