For Sean

The falling of a shooting star
captures my gaze for that moment too long
counting my blessing i reach out and grasp it
as if i wait it might disappear from my view.
i pick it up as though a mother picks up a child
ever loving, caring, protect the fagile from the harshness of the world
nerturing something so indescribably beautiful
knowing i must surrender to the whims for otherwise its gone.
Never once have i held something so uncontrolable
never once was i so frightened of letting it go
the fear that this beakon of light will disappear is unbreakable
for this light has once more set alight a glimmer of hope.
Once again i am brought out of this shell i call protecting myself
i am starting to radiate with the happiness of life once more
opening up my closed doors, letting myself be free again
free to shine all those wonderous colours of my soul.
Basking in this joyous life that this light has provided
taking in every splendour, every moment as if it were my last
savouring the undying affection of the warmth this light gives
until it begins to flicker and die out.
Now my light has gone, i am alone in the dark again
consumed by grief of loss of my beautiful shining friend
your beauty used to brighten up all our lives sweet seanie
but now has faded to a dull nothingness where only bitterness ends.
I still feel as though your presence is here though
my guess' are that you keep a close eye on us all
even though i will never hear that sweet chime of your laughter
i know that your smiling where ever you are my friend!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
