Manifest Destiny

Contributed by the_story_of_the_year on Thursday, 12th July 2007 @ 02:36:51 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

We rise in the morning
We gasp for air
We get up slowly
We no longer care
We turn the keys
We pollute the air
Day to day lives
Avoiding despair

We put on name tags with no names
We're just faces in the crowd
Because to them we're the same

With the disguise of a better life
We're put to work to cover the evil things they hide

The gears are turning
The engines churn
We're building bombs
In order to hurt

Restless fathers can't sleep through the night
A mother cries why her children fright
The blind man is hopeless looking for light
And all this because we think we are right

To get what we want
We sacrifice the rest
We leave others in the dust
When we think we're the best

This manifest destiny will kill us all
Unless we think to ourselves
When did we go wrong?

As long as our eyes are shut we can not see
We're turning out hate in factories

Got to agree with Michelle here. The style and rhyming flowed nicely and yes indeed, the message very powerful and one in which I would have to agree with. Well penned.
Thanks for sharing.
Peace,
Laura

So true... unfortunately. Very well thought out.
