State of Mind

Broken bridges
Lead nowhere
Memories
Lingering there
Ice covered path
Slippery feet
Motions feeble
Wrong way street
Lost in circle
Spiraling out control
Never evolving
Lonely heart patrol
Specters from shadows
Crying out names
Moments haunting
Old burnt out flames
Time has stopped
For this miserable beast
Mourning what was
Self pity the feast
When will it learn?
Don’t look behind
Love lives forward
Its all a state of mind

I have walked this path and been in this very same state of mind my dear old friend. You've hit the nail on the head here and done so with grace and eloquence.. I hope you are well. :)
Very well done

Oh Shari, this was truly gripping! It almost felt like a torturous
nightmare; one that tosses you in and out of consciousness
throughout the night's sleep. But that ending is a real and true
and B E A U T I F U L reality that more should live by. [Like
waking from a nightmare ... : ) ]
Excellent write, my friend.
