Desultory Damage

Contributed by reprobate on Wednesday, 4th July 2007 @ 06:40:52 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Hunting and chased by ideals and schemes
Ever haunted, those laughingly vague dreams
Children of jack, mere shadows, footsteps now dead
Wondering where the road miles finally have led

Hearts ripped out, searching for sutures
Listless immigrants to unknown futures
From an ocean of motherstars,
Just grains of cindersands
Wandering from each other,
Seedy hotels, dark bars, raucous bands

Check your hats, coats and souls at the door
Tomorrow will find us the too-familiar floor
Pockets emptied of the many best-laid plans
Vacant horizons revealed with hollow-eyed scans

How to go, what to do, when is it right
Swearing to godman -- not without a fight
Yet when dawn pukes its pernicious lumens
All that is lit are drained and disconnected humans

I'm not really good at these comments, so I'll just say that I really enjoyed reading this. I loved the feeling put into it,the meaning behind it , and I loved the flow of it all.

That last stanza was damn good...well the whole piece was great, but I loved these lines....

"Yet when dawn pukes its pernicious lumens
All that is lit are drained and disconnected humans"

The write was raw and sad. You penned this very well.
Peace and hugs,
Laura

the very last two lines made the whole poem for me. there have been far to many mornings i have woken to that feeling.. but i used to lucky enough to be able to snuggle back under the cover into my boyfriends arms... but not anymore i have to face the world alone.

your poetry seems to catch me unlike other peoples work. im not even sure what it is. just something. i cant seem to read enough of your stuff
