Above The Influence

Contributed by Rockalife66 on Friday, 29th June 2007 @ 01:45:21 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Right when I left my house that night,
I knew what I was doing wasn't right.
Now I'm stuck looking around helplessly,
in a room full of people dancing and making out cluelessly.
I'm kind of spacing out now,
at the same time trying to figure out,
why I came here.
When I look down,
I can see syringes and empty bottles of beer.
The nerves in my stomach,
they're just killin me now!
Thinking that all those drugs and beers are mine.
At the same time,
my eyes get heavy.
Everything seems to get blurry.

I reach for the car keys in my pocket.
I'm leaving.
This is insane,
I start thinking.
As I try to walk to the door,
It feels like 1,000 pounds just weighs me down.
My knees get weak,
and I fall to the ground.
I try to get up,
but these chains of regret and guilt,
disables me to move.

Now I understand what those Above the
Influence commercials are all about.
I wish I could shout that out so no one uses drugs and dies,
because right now there is only two things I can do,
wait for someone smarter to save me, and cry.

This is very good. It gets the point across. I like it.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
