When God created man, on final touches,
He used varied colour combinations;
Black, White and others shades of His liking.
‘Why such a variation in your creation, Oh God?’
I asked Him once. He smiled at me mischievously,
‘Variety is the key to my successful creative art.
If all my creations were similar in shape and shade,
Won’t you blame me, for being unimaginative and uninspiring?
Won’t you land up in perpetual boredom and monotony?
Look closely at the Nature, you’ll find a convincing answer.’
How true His statement, I suddenly realized.
Look at countless flowers that blossom in vibrant colours,
Do you ever dislike a dark shaded Tulip or a Rose?
They spread the same fragrance like any other.
When the butterflies in stunning hues dance in breeze,
Our hearts also flutter with unbounded joy and delight.
Are you not attracted by a white-dotted, shinny black butterfly?
Haven’t you watched the puppies in your neighbour hood?
Black, brown, white or a good mix of these shades,
Cuddling each other, playing together, merrily,
Unmindful of their skin colour varying.
The ravishing Rainbow on the blue canvass,
Deftly crafted and splendidly displayed by Nature,
Are you not enthralled by its seven colours marvel?
Do you ever buy a product just for its attractive packing?
Don’t you go by the quality of the product inside?
Why, then hate a man for his colour or for the race he belongs to?
Love a man for his humaneness and for his good deeds.
The inner self of person is what we should look in for;
Don’t be carried away by his outward appearance.
Say no to apartheid; foster fraternity and goodwill,
To create a social order of lasting peace and harmony.

Very well-meant write. Excellently penned. Racism is a sad friggen word and too bad we still know of it today. I wish it was an archaic word of the past, no longer needed. I love how you compared the colors of things in nature to humans....yes indeed my friend, why do we judge each other so needlessly, so cruelly? Very thought provoking.
