Floating Away

Contributed by tinawina on Saturday, 23rd June 2007 @ 02:25:12 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

You appeared like a dream
Could you truly be real
You lifted me up to the clouds
I felt so high I could float away
Happiness was unknown to me until you
My spirit felt free I wanted to fly
Shouting your name into the sky
The winds were a part of me
I was breathing you in
More and more intoxicating
Catch me before I float away too far
Bring me back to earth before I am lost
You are not there now, I cannot feel
The air suffocates me and the earth is hard
The world is spinning around me
I am afraid to move for I might shatter
The silence deafens me
My heart is stone
I float away

I must admit at first I struggled to understand "my heart is stone and I float away". It seemed to be almost a contradiction in terms. This, however was my fault. Upon re-reading this write a few times I discovered that this is meant to be this way. Your heart had been hardened because one allowed you to float away. And letting a rock float is horrible apathy, for rocks usually do not float at all. This makes that line all the more brilliant than I initially realized.

I adore the idea of revisiting a thought twenty years later and re exclaiming the emotion. Quite an emotional job. A wonderful work indeed.

SPLENDID!
