The observer

The observer

Life, it seems so simple as an observer…
You sit and listen to others problems, hear their stories, give them proper advice,
And then you think, That will never happen to me, I’m the one helping these people.

Then it hits you… you stop and think, What make me special, I can just as easily succumb to their troubles.
And then it happens.. The things you said you’d never fall for, hit you twice as hard..
You saw it coming, you knew it would happen, and yet you did nothing about it.

Disappointment, loneliness, heart-broken feelings, you’ve only experienced through others.
Advice is what you give, you’ve even saved countless families and lives,
Now look at you, such a pathetic being,
You try to solve your own family problems and you fail,
You try to solve your own mental problems and you fail
You try to solve your non-existent relationship problems, and you fail,
You love her, yet she’s merely an acquaintance, nothing more, and never will be…
You keep your feelings in, wanting to tell her, yet you can never bring yourself to it… you fail

Life, such a simple thing to observe,
Watching people as they walk down the street, pausing, observing their actions.
People… such a funny specimen to observe, some love, some hate, but they all share a common thing.
An invisible thread that ties them together in times of crisis:
sworn enemies holding hands to unite for the greater good,
Yet the thread is so easily cut, brothers turn on brothers, sons turn on father.
Into a descent of chaos this world must go,
as the phoenix burns and rises from its ashes, so to must mankind,

I am an observer, If I was not, these things I would not write.
I have failed… and I too shall one day rise from ashes, in a new beginning..
I shall not merely observe, for to solve my failures, I must act upon them…
I think upon them, therefore now I must prove that I am.

Hmmmm Seemed a tad rough on yourself, but hey it seems like that is what we do. I enjoyed reading your write. I found myself very absorbed within. I like your last stanza...sort of a glimmer of strength and hope. Good write.
Peace,
Laura

I agree with Laura,

we find it easy to help others but at times our life around us seems null and void falling apart at the seams with stiches missing.
We can only do the best we can and at the end of the day before we retire for bed we know that we tried.

A touching write nicely constructed , I liked the invisable thread yes we seem to find that invisable thread at times when needed the most

Michelle
