The WInd Died in Sudden Horror.......

Contributed by doug on Sunday, 17th June 2007 @ 03:01:32 PM in AEST

***
The woodland lay in shifting shades
like deep and blackened violence.
The wind died in sudden horror ;
trees loomed in silence.

In that flora , like Pandora's
box staring from the black ,
stood a creature so bestial
yet so human like.

I fear that she has lured me here
beneath the howling dark.
A cold and silent gaze betrays
no trace of human heart.

Soon , by moonless river gloom ,
she'll kneel upon my lifeless form.
Guttural lust for blood and flesh.
Dripping wet , red with gore....
***

omigosh doug, this is C.R.E.E.P.Y!!!

The picture is incredible! I can see why it inspired such a dark
sensual write. The imagery was fantastic .. I could picture every
movement in my mind!

You have exceptional skill in this genre.
Excellent post! Very enjoyable.

A great picture and I can definitely see how this inspired you. Before I get into the great job of the poem I have but one slight criticism. The break between Pandora's and Box makes no sense and made what was a splendid couplet hard to read. You should have broke after Box and not inbetween Pandora's and Box. Unless there is something in your intention I am not seeing (which is very possible).

Other than that....WOW! a truely magnificent and deeply poetic dark write. I love absolutely love the opening stanza, especially the title line. WOW! And the ending is beyond stellar! An amazing job dabbling in darkest beauty. You have a gift!

BRAVO!

Oh, yum...

First of all, LOVE the title...
It's brilliant. The entire poem is brilliant.
Am I surprised?

Never.

I must keep this comment short, unfortunately, but I WILL come back... Who can resist, honestly? lol. This plunged me in a very good type of darkness, of desire and blood, and oh, how well those two go together...

The picture is beautiful, but it is even more so because you gave it life... Albeit with 'requiem' tones, it is luscious nonetheless. Thank you... again... always. You must be sick of me telling you that, haha! If there was a way to tell you how very much I appreciate and admire your work without me taking days off of work to type it all... I'd do it in a heartbeat. However, I haven't found that way yet, SO, I'll just keep leaving respectfully lengthy comments on every piece, hoping that one day I might be satisfied, lol.

Who am I kidding. Won't happen. Sorry.
You're stuck with a savagely obsessed girl reading your poetry, *giggles*. No worries. I don't bite.

Oh wait....

Nevermind, XP.

Hopefully I won't be too harmful to your health, :P. Exquisite piece of dark, beastial lore. Loving it. As does the rest of YPDC it seems, lol. Keep writing, dear friend. I will follow close behind.

Always,

~Stephy
(who feels like she sounded a tad bit creepy in this one, XD)

I adore it when they speak. Pictures, I mean - pictures, painting, images. Yes, yes... sometimes they are living things.

I like how you brought it to the page and let us share, albiet from an observatory perspective, the experience. I love that we are able, too, to glimpse the inspiration and, to be honest, more fully appreciate where your mind wondered off to for having done so.

Thought provoking post - not the least of which was some wild pondering on that very thin line between imagination and reality.

Nice work.

That was one of the most amazing and memorable opening stanzas I have ever read on YPDC! Damn that was simply fantastic. How wonderful it must have felt to build a poem around that stanza! Needless to say you had me from the beginning. The more I read of you I wonder why I have not read you before. You have an extremely rare gift of being all; dark, poetic, and intellectual. That is a hard to find trio of poetic gifts.

This poem is just fascinating and the ending is perfect for such a powerful and unbelievable introduction. I LOVED THIS POEM!

SUPERB!
