Heroes

It doesn't take a genius to tell me what I am,
Or lecture me with poetry, like I ever gave a damn,
I don't remember what happened the day before last,
But it doesn’t take Einstein to figure out our past,

It takes years to find the nerve to give up on what begun,
To find the truth inside myself and not depend on anyone.
It takes time to find the strength to be apart from what I had,
To ignore someone who once made me oh so glad.

It doesn’t take Houdini to tell me what I’ve become,
To show me what I am and some.
I’ve become stronger, no matter what they say,
They pick you up and kick you out, they hurt you every day.

It takes friends to show you what you missed in life,
To experience ups and downs and strife,
It takes heroes to keep you going for day and days to come,
Even when they let you down unlike anyone has ever done.

It doesn’t take a physic to see what’s wrong with me,
Those that I looked up to have left me out at sea,
To fend for myself today, tomorrow, and the day after,
To drown in your loud, mischievous laughter.

People that you look up to will always let you down,
Those you love and care for will never be around,
Heroes are people, that you wish that you could be,
But I know that my heroes, will never be there for me.

Although all of this may be true,
I will never stop looking up to you,
I will never regret something that once made me smile,
And you’ll be my hero, all the while.

Sad write that. Each Hero is ones own creation mine was my Mother , not to discover til in my later years :-) and the next is God. Each will find one in with time .

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
