How Shall I Amaze Thee?

How shall I amaze thee? Perhaps
a salubrious bouquet that stays
fresh a moment and touchingly dies
the next, that is not my kind of love,
’O’ love; that is not my love for thee.
Tickets to a theater possibly impress
thee, but my sweet - the play so tender and
Throbbing might sadden thee; a teardrop in thy
wide blue eye – Ho no, tear in thy eyes is not my
kind of love, ‘O’ love; that is not my love for thee.
A glittering gold ring studded with precious
Gems probably stir thy heart, but ‘O’ loving
soul, my heart declines to evaluate our love
as an article of trade; that‘s not my kind of love,
‘O’ love; that is not my love for thee.
How shall impress thee? So dear I brought forth my bleeding
love-filled heart for thee - but you, rudely showed the way out to me?

oh my friend ... how tragic a write. There is such beauty and love
flowing in the first three stanzas .. a devotion that the writer expresses
in the most exceptional way. I ADORE the repetition of the last line.
It's so powerful and gorgeously poetic!
But those last two tragic lines ... oh dear. How sad, but oh how
intimately familiar to this reader, and I presume many others.
Brilliant post Franco. I think you get better with every write.

This is such a sad poem, to be presented with love and devotion such as you have shown and to have it obviously not appreciated and thrown back in your face is tragedy for a relationship.
Lovely write, really wel written and heartbreaking.
Take care,
Dom |

beautifully passionate, so romantic, filled with deep soulful love, a heart brimming over to choose the right way of loves expression, only to have it tossed aside tragically as nothing, wow and wow, i salute your poetic beauty here!
