Little Demon II - Part of Me

There is a bitter heart that lies within,
Torn and twisted and burned with scorn,
Held captive and kept beating by none other than
You.

You are
A part of me,
Distant and untouchable
To all
But my mind.

You are one…
And many…
And hold within you
That bitter heart.

That heart has withstood Hell…
Known true pain…
Trembles with remembrance…
And thirsts for blood…

But it goes on beating
To a different tune

It will not die.
It cannot.

It beats for you.

It reaches out
And heals other hearts
And waits forever
For the heart
That knows it
And can stop the pain.

But it also knows
Life.

It knows
That Life is to suffer…

… At least for now

And it knows
Just how hard
It is to give…

So it has stopped waiting
And accepts that other hearts beat alone
Just as it always has done…

… And always will.

definitely a dark write, but tastefully done in that it depicts the feelings of so many others on the topic of an unattainable love and whatever else may tie into it. excellent write!
