Losing the Fight

Contributed by gabby521 on Tuesday, 12th June 2007 @ 10:24:03 AM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

What I'm starting to realize
Is I'm less than I could be
I was never enough
And now I wanna give up
On everything I've tried to make of me

'Cause try as I might
And fail as I do
I'm losing the fight
And I can't fight anymore for you

It's taken everything
I've ever had
You've taken all of me
My heart, my fight and victory has
Disappeared
Like it was never here
Forgive me for the damage that I've done
But I'm through with you now
'Cause some wars can't be won

I've heard it said before
It's fatal to go into any war
Without the will to win
That's what I had back then
But I should have surrendered
Long ago

'Cause try as I might
And fail as I do
I'm losing the fight
And I can't fight anymore for you

I just can't fight anymore
'Cause I'm losing all that I am
And I can't tell what I'm fighting for anymore
In this battle I can't win

And it's taken everything
I've ever had
You've taken all of me
My heart, my fight and victory has
Disappeared
But it was never here

Forgive me for the damage that I've done
But I'm through with you now
'Cause I know
Some wars can't be won

I just can't fight anymore
'Cause try as I might
And fail as I do
I'm losing the fight
And I can't fight anymore
For you

first of all - it's nice to be proud of yourself. from what i've seen, most writers don't like a lot of what they write...or, better yet, only have about one or two they really like.

secondly - i love it too. truly...i'd like to hear it played, b/c that just makes it that much more amazing. but of course lyrics are the soul of music...

great job, truly amazing. you're a terrific writer!

I like the way you kind of left a sense of longing in the background. A sense of feeling completly helpless. A very good write. It's nice to see a artist who is pleased with there work.
I don't usally like mine. and don't uasally share it with anyone...a little to shy. Brillian write.

I really liked this, and would also love to hear it with music. Music takes good lyrics such as these and can make it brilliant.
I like that there is the realisation in this of needing to bow out gracefully, there is still some hope.

Nice write, nice read!

Dom
