So i sit!

as i sit here by myself listening to my music,
i often think back to those happier times,
when i felt alive, when a new day meant everything,
when i would look down at my hand just to see yours.
But then i snap out of it and find myself here again,
in this dark room with this scotch still resting in my hand,
and i still have it, that numb feeling where my heart used to be,
there is no ache, no pain, just numbness something i can't stand.
I gave you warning right, i told you i gave you my all,
i said plain and simply that i put in my everything,
i don't think you realised what you were doing when you pushed me,
when you gave up on us i was left all broken.
So now i sit here day in day out just passing through,
living this life, my life, as though i am a bystander,
i just work, drink and sleep, thats all day in day out,
everything else seems like too much of an effort now.
so i sit,
so i drink,
so i live a life that is as empty as i feel,
so i wait for something to magically change.
so i sit!

Very powerful yet wonderfully simple. I can relate to some of that, about being a bystander - very good poem. :) |

this unfolded clearly in my minds eyes... I relate to this as well.... just sitting and thinking. Emotions run freely in this write.
