(I Hope I'm Wearing my Sunday Best) When the Rapture Comes

Contributed by butterat_zool on Thursday, 7th June 2007 @ 08:15:45 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I hope I’m wearing my Sunday best
when the rapture comes,
for not all Christians will be dressed
when God calls home his sons.

And He will have a choice to make
between the hemispheres:
Does he hold Europeans
or Americans more dear?

For at 9 am in Canberra,
it’s 2 am in Minsk,
and if he calls us to the gates,
imagine their distress

As Aussies and Americans
all show up wearing ties,
And all the Belarusians
were caught by surprise

And showed up at the pearly gates
in dirty boxer shorts,
or granny panties and exes’ tees,
waiting to report.

And as a note to all my
Eastern European friends,
I promise that this message
isn’t meant to offend,

But if I get to make the choice
of whose morning breath God smells,
I need every edge I get
to keep me out of Hell.

I really liked it. I found it to be a somewhat humorous way to look at the coming of the end! This poem was the first thing this morning to make me smile~Tot

That is quite funny, I have to admit. Tongue-in-cheekiness done quite well.

I sure hope the good lord doesnt judge us by what we may be wearing, cause I'm sporting pyjamas. A wonderful piece to make us think about the final day.....being a nurse most of them are in pyjamas so I must be ready.
