Woman or girl of twenty to twenty-six.
Outgoing, friendly, unwilling to cheat.
I need to have children. Don’t be infertile,
And nevermind that I have weak arms.

Please enjoy laughing. It can be for nothing.
Enjoy playing games, whenever we might.
Trust I’m romantic without being guilty.
Let me in all of your dreams in life.

Your past is behind you, whatever you’ve done,
But ex-husbands’ burden me more than it’s worth
And I’m not a man who can raise other children
But other than that, I’m fine.

I don’t care for labels in fashion or friends,
I’m still learning how to love,
I’ll care for your sicknesses, seal up your wounds,
And expect that you’ll make my heart feel like a whole.

I’m deeply religious, but not how you’d think
And I won’t question what you believe
But I demand that you know why you think what you do
And we’ll raise our kids by what you think.

Don’t be a prude, but don’t be addicted.
Don’t be a coward, and try not to lie.
Your presence is all that I want for my birthday.
I’m weak, so let me be first to die.

Our firstborn son’s middle name has to be James.
I’m proud to be fifth in this unwritten line.
I love any music with unstupid lyrics,
And cook when I have free time.

I’ll give you a ring if we go to a play.
I’ll lie about your morning breath.
Whatever my job is, I know I’ll be rich
But I’ll never let money go to my head

Please don’t get jealous, and please forgive mine.
I’m not used to being treated so well.
The heart on my sleeve could weigh down a horse,
But if that doesn’t frighten you, nothing will.

I’ll worship your body for all that it has,
And chart every freckle and hair.
I’ll caress and arouse all your most tender spots
Any day, any time, or anywhere.

There are very few foods that I’ll refuse to try,
and they’re mostly McCrap or sea slime.
I love to travel, both nearby and far.
And sometimes I like to speak in cheap rhyme.

Speaking of which, I’ll write you some songs
And I’ll sing them out loud while I work.
I’m sometimes afraid of going down ladders,
But I’ll murder anyone who tries to hurt you.

I can talk on the phone for hours on end
And will always wish you sweet dreams
If my closest taste of love is a friend
Maybe everyone else is wrong about what love is.

Challenge my thinking, you may win me over.
Lead me to places that I’ve never been.
Expect imperfection and sometimes perfection
And you’ll be surprised what you win.

And finally laugh, though I’ve said it already;
I cannot impart its import.
And with a cute smile, I’ll go run a mile
Until you’re ready to take me home.

What's up with your meter? Why can't you be consistent? Is this a poem or a pick-up line?

Don't tell anyone. It's a secret, but the stanzas all have the same number of syllables. 41. Count em. All fifteen of them.

It's a poem, and, just like most of the others, it's unlike any of the other poems i've written before this. I hope you all liked it.

Well the inconsistency doesn't bother me because I always accept that how it is written is how the author wanted it to be.
To me it sounds like an ad in the personals, but the deepest and most heartfelt one I've ever read.
Is there any significance to why you chose to have that specific number of syllables?

I really liked it, its so personal and honest.

Great work,
Dom
