Beautiful

Beautiful

Until they have loved.
They believe they have,
Because they are the same,
The same as the others beside them.

You can pick out the people in love though.
They live, smile through their eyes,
Walk on air and embrace life.
They face their day with a surety
That no one else can.

If you look up from the ground
You can see them.
Everyone who does, knows,
Knows that “those” people
Possess something that they don’t,
Though they cannot say just what it is

I’ve seen those people.
I’ve wondered what they had
And now that I know the truth
I have to go back
To looking at the ground.

The world was such a beautiful sight,
Through those eyes.
Now, it’s shades of grey.
I wish I hadn’t seen the truth,
Because it will never be that beautiful again.
It can’t possibly be.

...possibly be? looks like the end got cut off. Your well written poem displays a sentiment that resonates with the way I've been feeling lately, as well.

Sigh ... there's a real grieving of the loss of such a complete feeling, but we can always hope for a second chance.

Just know, you will love .but begin with your self.......once you have done that you will see much differently. To be happy is to be happy within thy self, and with others. I beleive if one waits, and justs knows..it will happen. Beautiful and sad write.

I have had those days.... when everything looked grey to me, but yet I knew that 'they' were seeing extraordinary colors that I could not. Spike is right - this resonates. And grieving is exactly the right word to describe the way one feels with the world goes grey.

Heart tugging piece, hun -

Look who's here.

This one's quite good. Sometimes a poem's message can kind of swallow the words, so to speak, and the result doesn't have the fluency and grace that it should have - and it's especially easy to do that with a theme as close to the heart as this. But you've managed to keep message in proportion with the sound and self-containedness (yes, that's a word, I just inaugurated it) of the piece, and it results in a powerful and accessible poem.

I'd maybe change the last line, slightly (not much, this one's ending doesn't need lengthened nor cut shorter), although I'm not sure how.

Slàn. I'll be around again and comment some more, sooner or later (or later still... but hopefully sooner).
