It is a childhood lost.
My mind is blank,
When I look into the past.
Vacant looks return my questions.
All is gone.
Happy children playing in the pool,
‘Neath the warm, hot sun,
Smiling, laughing with their mother, father too.
Why can I not remember??
It is grey.
My mind is fogged.
Sit in the time machine,
The sign says its out of order,
Won’t move back in time,
No matter how hard I try.
Look! Crystal ball!
Murky? Dark?
….Can’t see…
Veiled.
Lost!
Where to go?
What path to stumble along?
Tis all hidden!
Painful heart,
Want but can’t,
Cry, cry for the lost childhood!
Weep, weep for forgotten smiles,
Forgotten joys, sorrows,
Events, emotions.
Gone…all gone...where?
What happened?
How? Why? When?
Questions left unanswered.
Scramble in the dust,
Chase fleeting, dim memories,
Revive them!
Looking for clues to the past,
Like an archeologist in the sand,
Hungry for some small piece,
Like a bird scratching for worms in the desert.
Not here, not here!
Where then? Where?
Gone, gone, gone…
Like the rabbit before the hawk,
Like the tang of the daisies in the summer breeze.
Then show me!
Show me my past, my present, my future!
My mind is grey and numb,
The light is off,
Switch it back on!
Let me remember Life.

An interesting write and, at least in my case, a vivid realization of lost recollections.
This is my first time reading your poetry and I find it to be an interesting and unique style. Keep up the good work.
