Bottle of Gold

Last summer,
I gave to you,
A plastic bottle full of gold.
Maybe you couldn't read,
The label there on it,
'My most treasured possession'
It said. 'Please take care'.
It was a bottle full of gold.
You didn't seem to notice,
You thought gold grew on trees,
And took it all for granted,
My bottle full of gold.
You neglected it,
And left it in the sun,
It melted,
A hole in the side of
The bottle full of gold.
The precious golden gold leaked out
All over the place,
And you complained
That it was making a mess,
You wondered why I was so mad:
Fool! How couldn't you see that
My bottle of gold
I filled it with the heart of my soul.
Thief of hearts,
had I known you’d leave mine alone,
In the ditch and in the cold,
I’d have given you so much less,
A tenth of what I had,
In a bottle made of stone.

Great imagery! I like line 3 & 4, and the last 4 lines especially. Heck I love it all! So sad, but beautifully written!
