This is for you, who deserves so much more
The one person who knows me through and through
The one who relates to me like no other
The one who I can humiliate myself in front of and know you’ve seen me worse
Who, when times have been rough, never ran away from me
Who in my time of need gave me her all
The one who helps me through my problems
The one who I could laugh easily with for hours
Who shares my life experiences with me, both good and bad
You’ve never turned you back on me
or let me give up on myself
or told me I wasn’t good enough
or let me down
Do you know how much our friendship means to me?
You have your own problems and yet you let me whine about my own
and I love you for listening even when inside you were hurt
I’m sorry if I haven’t been as good to you as you have been to me
And thank you
For being you and never letting me fall too far or hard
For never letting go when you were all I had to grab unto
Have you ever realized that I look up to you?
For being caring
and strong
and astonishingly beautiful
even though I know you don’t think you are
Let me tell you something
You are the most strong, caring, and beautiful young women that I’ve ever met
And I hope you know I’m always here for you
And that even if it may seem like I’m not listening, I am
I hear you laugh and cry
I listen to what’s inside rather than what you want people to hear
I know you are your own person
I see you as yourself and not who other people think you are
I can only hope to be at least half the friend you are to me
Don’t ever feel alone
Even if it seems like I’m not there
I am
Just give me time to figure it out
