I don’t want this to be easy, so don’t you even try.
If you’re going to break my heart, at least do it right, make it hurt.
Do it after I tell you that I love you, after I sing you songs, after we’ve spent nights in places
brighter, higher, and better than the stars themselves.
Do it after you promise me the world.
Be honest.
Tell me what I don’t mean as much as I used to, and that we won’t be friends.
Tell me that the only thing you leave me with is good memories.
Kiss me with pity and tell me I’m no longer beautiful.
Leave me as it rains and drive off in the twilight of a lukewarm September.
Leave me with the closure that is there’s one thing I could love for,
it’s honesty.

can I tell you this is magnificent even though it rips the heart right at the core?
Wow. Honesty. Yes, a fragile concept. Do we really want to know? If we believe in what
you've laid down here; that we would rather hurt ... painfully, excruciatingly hurt, than be
patronized with promises we know will never be kept, then, yes. I think we DO want to know.
You have a gift, dear poet. A remarkable and awe-inspiring gift. You take the mundane and
the everyday thoughts and make them dance along the banks of passion like no one else!
We all think it ... you sing it!!
Sad, thought provoking and painfully stunning! (honestly!!)

| Breezy tells it like it is. Such a tale of desire, woe, heartbreak and loss. But contained within is the strength of a romantic, the passion of a dreamer and that's what makes it so perfect. A sadly stunning piece. x |
