October is like a pastel painting
delicate leaves of red, yellow, brown, orange, and green
litter the ground in the Autumn wind
the sun setting on the horizon with waves of red, purple, orange, pink, and blue
lightly brushed and swirled into the wide-open canvas of our atmosphere.
The cool, crisp breeze whistling through the trees,
nipping at your nose, a reminder that winter is near
the scent of pine wafting in the course of the gusts
A foggy rain misting over the lakes
the time to become creatures cloaked in magical garments of make believe
uniquely carved jack-o-lanterns with their faces glowing in the dead of night
makes you uneasy as you feel that someone is watching you
streets besieged with energetic children
holding their bags open wide, waiting for their sugary treats
The nights coming to a close
the flames of the burning jack-o-lanterns have died out
the wind picks up and the leaves rustle and whirl
in a collage of colors
red, yellow, brown, orange, and green
Even in the pitch black of night
October is like a pastel painting.
