Man And Society

Contributed by hoist1atca on Thursday, 17th May 2007 @ 01:28:27 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Man is not defined by the things he does-
For his actions are dictated by his surroundings-
And society places many demands without regard-
One must choose between his piers or himself…

Man is not defined by what he has-
For possession of wealth has a high price-
And sometimes one takes extreme measures-
As greed is the basics behind all wealth…

Prejudice should be of no acquired learning-
Yet the inner circle of ones own society beacons-
And if you are not in the same pike-
Then you travel in the wrong direction as they…

We are all different in a multitude of ways-
But every being that lives and breathes-
Has one common bond that they must see-
God placed us all here so this world we could share…

Ah Joe! So nice to see something new from you.

The universal and age-old circumstance of how one should
be defined and/or judged. (Like that is EVER fair or accurate!)

We do have the common bond of being human. And
that, to this reader anyway, should be enough to allow
tolerance and compassion to rule and guide our actions.
Too bad it's not always, (hardly ever, in fact), the reality.

But, the piece itself, is wonderful, Joe. There is a lot to ponder
and hopefully gain from. Glad to see you here. :) Hope all is well ....
