Soldier's Tale I

I watched from the corner,
Forced down by metal insects,
As my friend fell in the dust,
Blood pouring from his arm and chest.
He struggled, squirmed on the ground
And held out his arm, bent at an angle.
He pleaded for help or a medic or his mommy
And quietly spoke with an angel.
We dedicate this soldier’s cross
To those who’ve died out here.
You all inspire me and everyone
To continue fighting without fear.

While reading I had tears come to my eyes.
I wish for you safety in your journeys.
This poem is beautiful.
