But He Say's He Loves Me

Contributed by Naomi on Monday, 7th May 2007 @ 10:31:59 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Another tear, another day.
I wipe another teardrop away.
He says he wants the best for me.
He says he loves me can't you see.

I lie to my family. I lie to my friends.
But I know it will all work out in the end.
He's taken everything' my soul from me.
But he says he loves me cant you see.

I ask him why he hurts me so.
He grabs me tight and won't let go.
I cry, 'leave me alone, just let me be'.
But he says he loves me can't you see.

I take a pill to relieve the pain.
At times I feel as though I'm going insane.
No self -esteem nothing left of me.
But he says he loves me cant you see.

Nightmares have taken over my night.
I awaken sweaty, and full of fright.
Remembrance of the awful night' he hurt me.
But he says he loves me cant you see.

I sit home. I'm all alone.
Crying and weeping, with a broken bone.
I know he didn't mean it, I know he didn't see, all the pain he was causing me.
Because he says he loves me can't you see.

I know I love him with all my heart.
I hope that we will never part.
I am giving him the best of me.
He knows I love him, can't he see?

Delicate and saddening. One has to know when to draw the line, where even love is no excuse. My hopeful wishes for those trapped in abusive relationships, may they let the first tear be the last.
