Better men than you have woke me screaming in the night,
Better men than you have thrilled me with delight,
Better men than you have wanted me to soothe their pain,
Better men than you didn't even know my name.
The only man I wanted, crashed through my life,
The only man I needed, left me for his wife.
He was a better man than you, the only one I gave my heart,
It was a better man than you that tore my dignity apart.
Don't think you're the first to throw their money on my floor,
Don't think you're the first; there were many men before,
Don't think you're the last, who is going to have to pay,
There's a better man waiting until you've had your way.
Better men than you have made me cry,
Better men than you have, so often, said goodbye,
Better men than you have left a tip beside my phone,
Better men than you have left me hurting here, alone.
Better men than you; have paid me for my time,
Better men than you have paid me for my crime,
When you leave my bed, don't forget I'm human too,
I'm just a woman who has been loved by better men than you.

Wow. Wow. I think I needed to read this. It is good to see things from the flip side of the coin.(so to speak) I've oft wondered how a woman or man, for that matter, can "sell" a part of themselves. Such an intimate part. You have written about much pain and sadness here. The last stanza was truly the clincher. Well done.
Peace,

You like?Well,I like it too.
This should be framed and placed
above the bed of every working girl.
It may not be very punter-friendly,but hey,
a good helping of the truth wouldn't go
amiss, in such circumstances,

Fantastic write, Yes call girls are human too, as their punters are. But not sure if this is exactly what it is about. I can see another side to this poem, are am I reading too much between the lines. 2sdy you excelled with this one. Sue x |

I don't think so! (lol).
I guess it comes down to how you measure the 'better man', but you do capture the bitter and angry disregard that fuels a lot of strippers, pole dancers, ladys of the night etc, that lost their respect for men either before they engaged in that kind of lifestyle because of abusive backgrounds, or following their exposure to the groping, baying, lusting animals in their element ( I hate talking about my gender this way but these kind of blokes seem to be a significant subset).
A good read,
Spike |
