‘How Long’ Knopfler sings
9 years have gone by
Many a sunset and many a rainy night
Marlboro’s, Bourbon, generosity,
Quarries, blocks, highways
His Spirit still lives on
Years have rolled by
but memories of him still are stronger than ever
The good folks die young and go early
Early morning blasts down the road
Country music for company on those empty roads
Filled up my empty wallet
I had exhausted even my last dime
and was all out of cigarettes
a gesture like none other
I miss you man
Still in my thoughts
Always will be.
