The sounds of BookMan's Trumpet (A Hunger Made to Thirst)

Contributed by Franciswolf on Thursday, 3rd May 2007 @ 03:49:37 AM in AEST
Topic: AngryPoetry

Hey bookman
Hey wide-awake, you shook man
I saw you flake, man took them
Down the dock, heard a hawk
Circle round the legs as the hands did walk
And we, we sit inside
Wearing in style lies and out of touch apologies
We were falling apart, just as it all got close
And the stitching fell away from my heart

Hey bookman
Do you remember me, I was angry?
Ancient history, I was wary
And you beat me down, I fought for approval
But it’s feeling never came around
Tread lightly; I’d watch your back
Not from me, but goodness attacks
It isn’t forgiving, as they sometimes say
It just kills quietly and it finds the sweetest way

Hey bookman
I can see, you were a crook man
You may always be, it’s just your anthem
A trumpet purged as it’s sounds serge from a window ledge
Spitting into the night and it dances on the light
Of our hearts making them heavy and wedged
Who man, would of thought you were so deadly?
Keeping me so straight forward but on the edge?

Playing, “You are what I say you are”
“If I say I say you are”
“If you are what I say you are”
“Then I say, I say you are”

A trumpet purged as it’s sounds serge from a window ledge
Playing, “You are what I say you are”
“If I say I say you are”
“If you are what I say you are”
“Then I say, I say you are”

Not really my taste, usually. A little too modern and dated (for today) in the wording. Still I venture these types of work occasionally to see how the other half lives. This is definitely a performance piece, or so it seems when I read. With everything in place, a wonderful flow and this does stand out among the masses that fall into this particular category! Nothing more to say, than excellent job!

Well Done!
