SEZ I TO THE PUMPKIN !

Contributed by Robert_Edgar_Burns on Thursday, 27th February 2003 @ 01:00:00 AM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

You’d look so fine upon my plate
As a squash or in a pie.
With butter or with whip cream,
To the pumpkin quipped sez I!

I see you have no arms or legs,
And no way of fighting back.
Now I shall get my butcher knife,
And give you a great big whack.

The pumpkin quickly answered back
And said I’ll squash what’s in your head.
Then turn you into humble pie,
And make you wish that you was dead.

Me thinks you are mistaken sez I,
But it turned into a coach,
Complete with horses and a princess too,
I sez, that’s nothing of one to boast.

And just as smugly as the pumpkin did
I turned into a frog.
I knew I could match wits with him,
Every day and all night long.

Sez I you could never top me,
And I began to laugh.
Yes I could sez he as he rolled on me,
As the pumpkin that made me flat!
