'Till he wakes in the morn,
To watch for the sun rise at dawn,
When rays filter through the curtain.
He grabs for her arm,
No more sweet charm;
His golden locks flicker red in the mirror.
Sugar lips melt to lava,
He spits his cruel mantra;
Angel ringlets are scalded to cinders.
But it’s blood that he thirsts,
Not trust, love, nor lust;
Fists crack this knight’s worn out armour.
And then at his ‘darling’
Reflection in mourning;
Collecting shards as if they were gold.
From her nose; a single porcelain chip,
Was just enough to draw a single drip.
The crimson paint from her lips
Dribbled and ran
Sea blue ink of her eyes
Melts away her white tan
The rouge from her cheeks
Blows away on a gust
And her delicate figure
Just crumbles to dust
He crushes the glass in his fists
Watching the black run down his wrists
His flawless protector lies cold on the stone
Forever in guilt and moreover alone.
