like the crow who scales the skies
looking ever for new shining objects
i sat in my car waiting for my daughter
listening to the music wafting in the air,
with the thousand colours of morning
i had seen him fly across my path twice
so i sat there dumbly waiting to see him
but he had been near the home mountain,
where ever was it he flew to in a storm?
maybe it was high over a wondering world
well, for me, he created much happy joy
so i sat dreaming of those darkest wings,
eventually she returned to the car and me
i heard all about all neat things she bought
then on our merry way we went; off to eat
mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and chicken,
there was a little guilt about the later...
some talk of the date with her army man
mutual concern he will be on leave again
hope that this bloody idiot war will end,
knowledge, art, men, poetry, college, men
food, entertainment, clothes, anthropology
hair, nails, summer, dogs, the air, the time
{at times she thinks i dont pay attention}
back to the dorm and away she went with
a kiss, a smile, an i love you mom, see you
for her alone i suffered the heat of summer
on the ride home a dog ran in front of me,
no i did not run him over, scream, nor cry
or this would be a different poem altogether
up into the forest and higher still and more
all i needed for calm happiness around me,
missing my one truelove; i saw him again
flying beside me across the road twicemore
beautiful, graceful, black as pitch, fat, sassy
traveling solitary like me; yet were we?

and touch with his wing the stars*:~

I rather like that you paint a lost love as the Crow...
it deepens certain mythology of the bird.

Though life trapped within the daily routine, it secretly yearns to fly like the crow and scale new heights, like the crow your thoughts flies along with you ....
"i saw him again flying beside me across the road twice more beautiful, graceful, black as pitch, fat, sassy traveling solitary like me; yet were we?"
Cheering you to spread your wings to fly along its course.
My friend your presentation is remarkably wonderful.

Wondeful, wonderful! I was captivated throughout. I particularly like how you chose to use the crow as a metaphor for that shadow within us all that haunts after the loss of love. A just superb job!
SPLENDID!

Oh Nessa .. how truly wonderful! I especially ADORED the last line of
the final stanza. My oh my! Who could deny the power and beauty of
that? I felt like I was right along there with you for the ride .. reminded
me of my OWN visits to college to take my son out for the day. Yes.
What a splendid piece of life poetry, hun. But that last stanza .. wow!
It'll stay with me for a while, I'm sure.

Nothing like being airborne to get a better view and a different perspective on life events. Soaring.... such freedom. The experience of setting our mind and feelings adrift, no telling what we may encounter.
Well done,
