Survival Strategy

Topic: DreamsandWishes

we are the Rx Generation
"Good News" is not in our vocabulary
and we seem to have misplaced
hope
somewhere- here
under all these legal papers
and i have tried, don't tell me otherwise
i have searched in my home

home?

home is where the heart is
but i never seem to have a pulse
when lying in my bed
home is not here with the poetry covered walls
and the alcoholic father
home is not here with the bible thumbing mother

don't you, don't you dare
tell me about "My God", woman
i have known you to use his name
often in vain

i know God is here, but i think he may have misplaced

hope

somewhere- here
under all of his scattered sons and daughters
falling for his name
don't tell me i don't try..i have
but, i'm just here trying to pass the
time

cause i don't know what the future holds
but we haven't ever
but i know there was hope
back then
when we knew one day we would find a suitable mate
now i just pray i find one with his head

on straight

and not to be greedy, but maybe
one
with 2 out of 4 limbs still in place
hope
hope
hope is just a word to string together our
Survival Strategy

i hope one day i won't have to walk through
a sea of such idle faces and clouded eyes
our energy gone ...where is that pink drum banging..bunny
our lust for life amiss
because baby please, i just need

a fix

my day has gone so wrong
it's been so long
since i've felt alive

everyone is so concerned with the BIG PICTURE
and i understand why

but what about US?

the petals that make up the flower
the drops that make up the sea

what about US?

our heros are so far gone
it's the blind leading the blind
the clinically insane charging hourly
to exchange
piece of mind

and thank you Baby Boomers, but
screw your idea of help and security
we found ways to sink in to our own
"punk-***" minds and create a
world a little less like hell

a world where our Government
our Leaders
throw down their swords and say:

"Why don't we just...chill"

a place where the boy gets the girl..or
the boy gets the boy
and live happily ever after
where we may die peacefully in our sleep
a world where the news brings only good times

but obviously it doesn't
this time

so pass me another beer
i'll take whatever you got
what'll make me feel good
what'll
****
me
up
we've done what we could
our animal instinct
this is our Survival Strategy

numb discarded seeds
on the washed up shore
of "comforting dreams"
we are all we've got

and this rant wont end well
but at least i am here to moan about it
we're gonna die young
but baby, you wont be alone
maybe the farmers will remember US
and plant US
and nurture US
so when it is time we can
take over the family owned business for another so and so years

and finally make it what it should have been

or maybe
we'll just be food for the birds
either way we've been damned
but don't worry honey about where it's all headed
just hold my hand

I agree fully. We all need hope but finding it is hard, when the world seems bent on distructing itself. Good Write. Honesty can be harsh but true. Thank You!
