How Times have changed

Topic: Lifepoems

How times have changed... since I was a child
No idea of time, was allowed to run wild
Safe in my world, close to my home
Allowed out to play out with friends or alone

Crossing the road, was easy as pie
Could cross any safely whilst closing an eye
Could roam thru the park or a forest with glee
Picking wild flowers no one with me

Walking my dog, to the local sweet shop
People that knew me always would stop
I could talk to anyone female or male
knowing I'd be safe to tell the tale

Today now I don't feel safe, when time it hits eight
Only drive places, never out late
Can't get cross the road, 'less I'm fast as wild cat
Closing my eyes now? I'd NEVER do that!..........

Roam thru a park? or a forest alone?
Never do that, drive all the way home
Talk to a stranger? Now way late at night
Wait til its morning or safe in daylight!

What has the world come to?
The innocent child?
When children WERE children
So sweet meek and mild!

I wish it was back then when we all loved eachother
And we knew we were safe with friends or our Mother...
But time has moved on now....and we must move on too
But I wish it was BACK THEN, Don't you wish too?
