The Oceans Song

Contributed by jester on Monday, 23rd April 2007 @ 05:21:06 PM in AEST
Topic: abstract

I stand closed eyes,
the sand makes it's way between my toes and the salty sea spray washes over my face.
The cold rush of ice cold water ,
it sends energy electric like a flash fire up through my body.
I can't help but have my eyes snap open as I suck in a desperate breath.
The scene that is presented is the morning sun catching the sea spray,
each droplet catching a myriade of colours in their arcs back toward the sea.
And the waves they wash over her,
she stands in the middle of the tempest of waves as if they had forged her.
The roar of the ocean rings out,
each part of the thunder it's own emotion,
sounding out her rage, passion, fear, anger and pain.
The crest of each wave is her passion,
soaring and uncontrolled in it's energy.
The crash of each wave is her rage,
the power to shatter rock,
rend flesh and break the soul.
The tempestuous swell is her pain,
only showing ripples on the surface,
but swirling a dangerous undertoe beneath strong enough to drown in.
The cape rock face her fear,
the wall that stops her,
the wall she breaks her self on.
She stands alone out in the swell,
where the faves continuously crash,
calling out her beautiful but pained sirens song.
Her blue storm filled eyes catch the morning sun,
the clouds break and for that moment,
one long lingering moment her smile is the sunrise.
A smile thats is powerful enough to stop the earth.
That moment seems like forever.
Forever in a place where the storms have subsided ,
deap beneath in the calm ocean deapths.
Deap enough from the waves too have stopped thundering,
deap enough too not see the salty spray brand the shore.
And for a time the sun illuminates the blue sky like hope.
Then the world turns as the world always does.
The sun rises,
the sun sets, and the tides change.
The storm rises once more like the tides themselves.
Watching as with each swell the heart ach returns ,
a pain that resides within the ocean,
vast and awesome.
One that could only ever be contained within those boundless shores.
Yet all I can do is watch from those shores,
reaching out from the sands bar the swell,
and the gulf still stands betweem us.
My own storms have long ago torn off any wings I had,
wings that might have carried me across the that distance.
So now and forever all I can do is stand on the shore,
looking out,
watching and listening to the song of the child of the ocean
