In just a second.

Grief

Watching out the window,
watching the rain drip down the side of the house,
Watching the kids run, laugh and play in the puddles.
Thinking life couldn't possibly get any better, when i hear it.
The screeching noise of a car being smashed into, quickly turning my head i'm just able to see the last seconds of the crash happening, i watch in horror as the kids start to scream, their parents rushing them inside their houses just as the ambulance pulls up.
It takes the jaws of life to get the poor man out of the crushed car, but when they finally get him out....it's already too late.
I quietly shut the blinds and sit back in my chair thinking about what i had just seen, thinking about the guilt the other driver must be feeling,
and thinking about how your life can just end in less than a second.

Hey Vampy's daughter, how are you? Welcome to YPDC. I thought you did a great job on this write. You made the reader feel as though they were there, watching the entire scene with you. It is true....things can change in a split second. Thanks for sharing.
Peace,
Laura |
