Sitting on the Gravestone

Contributed by Dana on Wednesday, 18th April 2007 @ 10:03:18 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Kill me softly
Kill me quick
Let me die
With one pinprick

Forget my pain
My poisoned blood
Is the sorrow just seeping?
Or is it a flood?

On my gravestone
You see a dove
Remember this:
I died for love

Blackest Black
Around that stone
Downcast eyes
As red roses shone

The pastor speaks
Of the Better world
But you can only think
'She was my treasured pearl'

I took my life
I took your love
It shines out bright
Still with that dove

You close the door
When you get home
But collapse on the floor
You're all alone

Picking up the pieces
Of your shattered heart
And remembering the cause
I had the main part

You remember some bad times
But all of the good
The happy moments we shared
And the storms we withstood

I still love
And I still care
But it's all for you
It's never shared

The dove is here
She brings me peace
Healing my wounds
My love won't cease

So toast to me
But not to life
Toast to my love
Just for tonight

This was a good poem. I don't think it sucked at all. Great poem. Well written.

Take care
Christina
