I loved you both,
warm and quiet,
sleeping in the soft night.
While owls sang, and morning slept on,
We lost our dreams of sun.
Counting sheep,
in the dark peace,
we three believed in God.
Unbeknownst
to us then,
we had only each other,
and the sound of rain.
Now we realize,
and burn our tongues,
on the still black left behind.
A dark streak
on our painting of beds,
mussed, but loved,
by unreplaceable ghosts.

To me this poem spoke of sadness and melancholia, and I had to read it a few times to allow myself to appreciate your words and their meaning fully.
I really enjoyed reading this, you have conveyed your emotions very well indeed.
Take care,
Dom |
