It's Mine

Contributed by joker17 on Sunday, 15th April 2007 @ 08:55:53 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

This house is filled with silence
Unlike it’s ever been before
I thought I heard you call my name
But it was a pin drop on the floor

It echoes through my memory
Of all I thought we’d be
The sound is fading, empty
It feels like you and me.

This time I say we’re over
And not going anywhere
It doesn’t work when one of us
Won’t make the time to share.

Somehow I must forget this
And make you go away
My heart will heal as time goes by
We’re done, I just can’t stay.

But I will tell you one thing
Since I said my last goodbye
I feel relieved of emptiness
Maybe it was all a lie.

I said love, and I meant it
I know you said it too
But where have you been so long?
I should have never thought it true.

You lied, you played, you lost me
Without you I’ll be fine
My true love’s out there waiting
Just return my heart, It’s Mine.

Oh man, that last line hurts.. I know how that feels, and so many other people I know would relate to it too. Just that last line... it sets the poem in stone, y'know?

I love the flow in this, the rhyming works well, and doesn't sound at all forced (which is reaaally nice to see). It's just a really good, natural reading write.

Well done.

Take care.

*hugs*

Well it IS mine, and it was meant to "sting." Not in bitterness, but in hurt. Playing games is never acceptable, and neither is stringing someone along.....Lesson learned, and better days must be ahead...they have to be. I'm sure of it! Positive thinking. Thank you for reading and commenting. It is very appreciated.

Sincerly,

Joel

This pained my heart to read for I felt your pain, hurt and sadness throughout the whole poem. My dear fellow poet pick up the pieces of your heart and move on my friend. There is somebody out there for you who will be so deserving of your beautiful loving heart, a person who will love you and make you forget about the bad experience you had. Chin up my dear fellow poet for you are instore for much brighter days ahead. May your beautiful pained heart be loved by a beautiful, loving caring soul who shall be worthy of it~
A sad and touching write that I can so much relate to. Thanks for sharing it with us.
*big heartfelt hugs for you*
