The Hope
Today the stones on the outer field cast
no shadows birds don’t sing and the wind
doesn’t blow through grey oaks crowns.
Today is full of melancholy that I can’t
shake off a sense of futility, she rang and
told me that she doesn’t love me anymore.
Today my heart is full of sorrow wishes
the impossible that she will relent come
back and unburden this my longest day.
Today, this afternoon, the sun warmed my
face, whispered her name a hundred times
and know that love will come my way again.

A fine poem. You managed to evoke that sense of melancholy with your image juxtaposition and story.
