Love Isn't for Me

Can't you see that I'm alone,
And thats the way I'd like to stay.
I'm not a sucker for love anymore,
And I know its better this way.
If love was meant for me,
It wouldn't have spit in my face;
It wouldn't have pushed me down
And stolen what I can't replace.
It seems that dreams is where love lives,
A perfect essence that is so pure,
But once awake I discover
That love doesn't live here anymore.
So what can I call love except a good lie?
It fools thousands daily like an expert con man
who steals their most guarded possession,
and then tells them through open confession,
but he is already gone; he accomplished his plan
of robbing and leaving them to die.
So what can I call love except a good lie?

Wow, I really like this poem. I once read a book of a man who did not believe in love, he then met a woman that did not believe in love as well. The couple became great friends and soon came to realize they had fallen in love. Love can be many things, including a lie...
Great write.
Blessed be,

I must say, the title brought me to this piece. Ah, yes. I have visited this place myself a few
times. The place where we condemn love to hell and dare it to toy with our emotions again.
You have conveyed your convictions exceptionally well throughout this write.
However ... lol ... (you knew there would be one, right?), if love lets us down; abandons
us; betrays us; kills our spirit and leaves us for dead ... then that, to this reader at least, is
not true love. So many of us are quick to blame "love" when really it's the person weilding
that emotion who is the liar. If we love someone who doesn't love us back, does that make
our own love a lie? No, I don't think so. I know it is hard, impossible even, to continue to
persevere when we feel lost and defeated. (Believe me, I know). I'm not one of those
who says, "love finds you when you are not looking for it" .. gosh, who thought that up?
Of COURSE we should keep looking for it. I couldn't imagine a worse fate than having
love knock at my door, only to find that I'd gone out for the day. How cruel. We should
always keep our eyes and ears open and never, NEVER say die! It'll all be worth it
in the end.
K .. sorry for the ramble, (I tend to do that on occasion! :P)
good luck and keep writing! This was (obviously), stirring. Especially to other poets!
