A-----, She Is Gone, And I Am All Alone

A-----, She Is Gone, And I Am All Alone

She was Beautiful;
my,
she was Beautiful!
She was vivacious,
filled with life;
she sparkled;
her eyes danced and twinkled;
her skin was without blemish;
her hair a thick wreath of dark chestnut brown;
her smile,
a vibrant rush of pure and innocent adrenalin;
her heart was young,
a refined organ
pulsing with compassion,
throbbing with gentleness,
kindness,
Hope,
and Love.
She was delightful,
impossible to contain within this poet’s words.
The few times we shared a bleacher seat,
her company was so thoroughly enjoyed;
anticipation’s thrill preceded those rare evenings;
in her presence,
for those few precious moments,
I was alive.

It’s true,
I was divorced,
but not entirely free;
she was eighteen,
and I was forty-three.
Wisdom grappled with desire;
My parent’s heart
wrestled with the man in Love;
With no word spoken,
condemned regardless of the path chosen,
reluctant to bind her Sparkle,
her Elegance,
and her Purity,
to my lead dull existence,
I walked away;
I let Love wither;
I died.

Fifteen years have since passed,
and often I wonder.
Often,
when I hum or sing Forever Young,
I think of her.
She still owns a part of me,
and though the gulf between us is infinite,
that part of me still bleeds.
My Dreams attempt to recreate the splendor,
but,
she is gone.
She is gone,
and I am all alone.

There is a truck load of emotion and imagery in these words, Ron. It is so difficult to fill the holes that some people leave behind, as we part ways regardless of reason.
I too am a fan of "Forever Young" and it holds special meaning to me as well. I am certain it would not surprise some to hear that my favored version of the song is performed by Meatloaf though, no offense to Rod Stewart or the man who penned the song... Mr Bob Dylan.

Great to see your return sir, I hope it is a lengthy one.

Nazzy ~
