Anywhere But Here

I have to get away from here.
There's nothing left for me...
not anymore.
My life changed
on that fateful day.
It was a change
that I just couldn't take.
Before then, I was desperate
for a change, but now...?
I went back to gather my things,
perhaps to remember
fond memories,
but all I felt was pain.
As I shouldered my pack,
I took one last glance
at the place I grew up,
before turning and walking up the road
to who knows where.
Because from that moment,
I had to be anywhere but here.
