Tell Me

Contributed by PrincessPage on Wednesday, 26th February 2003 @ 03:20:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Let me delve into your mind, looking hard into your eyes
To find the place right at the back were your secret lies
Are you a survivor? Do you want to be the best?
Or mull threw crowded avenues and blend in with all the rest?
Buttoned shirts and collars, 9 till 5, tired feet and hands
Children, family, attention seekers always on demand
Shining threw like sunshine are you warm to peoples needs?
Or do you take? Take and destroy, do you bite the hand that feeds?

Do you walk along this earth and consider it all to be yours?
Rebel within the tides and dance along the shores.
Do you stare at the stars and admire their hidden grace
The black velvet backdrop and the moons happy face?
Can you see it? Do you feel it? Tell me how it grows?
Tell me what hurts you so, is it a thorn without a rose?

What do you think about yourself? Are you plagued with self-doubt?
Is your fountain of knowledge suffering from endless drought?
Would you tie the world up in shiny red ribbon and hand it to someone new?
To be gazed and valued upon every glance and new view?
Or would you rather keep it and not give it someone else?
and place it with the ornaments next to carriage clock on the shelf?

Each song, each rhythm, each word whispered in your ear,
Do you pause and listen carefully to the freedom you can hear?
Do you strive on other people with their laughter in full flight?
Or do you lie alone in bed, wrapped in endless night?
Do you burn with passion, waiting for prince charming to arrive?
Waiting for his smoldering kiss to make you feel alive?

Do you wait for fate to catch you, like a butterfly caught in a net
Or do you hold your own future with every rise and set.
I cannot tell you who you are, because I do not know
I could never guess at all the things that you refuse to show

But maybe when you’re at life’s edge and you hear the fear inside you cry
You'll tell me you afraid, so ill push you, and you’ll fly.
