A Prayer

An aspiring ambitious son of the 21st century:
The materialistic age of science and technology,
The climax and crown of human wisdom,
Plans to go abroad to brighten his future,
To bundle up western dollars, euros and pounds,
To ransack the cold deep waters of the seven seas,
Inconsiderate to moral or immoral codes;
In the meantime his mother falls unwell,
The malady prolongs that lingers her departure,
And the perturbed impatient son sitting alone,
In silence, oblivious to his surroundings,
Mutters the prayer of his mother’s death.
