Snippets of emotions torn
she is seated there looking utterly forlorn
Approaching is admitting
and most times she wants no dent of your pride
so she leaves her daughter in the corner
who became the daughter you forgot
The rash words that gushed through her mouth
so hot and scalding it sizzles rough
Punishment is power
so you left her sitting in the same dark corner
Hoping the authority to do so brings you repentance
from the daughter you just forgot.
Wounds left still vunerable to more wounds
Ignorance gurantee a lesson room
to not repeat the same mistake
So you pretended not to see
Yet you overlooked that you would oversee
thus she became the daughter you subsequently forgot
Memory fails as old age approach
You will retain your stand , you expect no reproach
Everything I do is for your own good
Please do not argue
if not I'd ignore you.
It became a habit
and that was how she became the daughter you forgot.
A mere oversight on your part
It's nothing much
A simple memory loss for that moment
No, it was not THAT recent
the presence that silently darkens the rooms
and vanquish your smiles
I wonder how I've become
the daughter you became uncomfortable with
the daughter you wanted nothing to do with
who then became the daughter you forgot.
